The Funky Quill - Scattered Writers Welcome
WRITING WORK

Since my writing scatters across several subjects, this page is the table of contents and mini-previews of the writing I do. In my time, I've written fiction, worked in academia (with a twist), written for the stage, posted critical reviews of movies and advertising, and tried other mindstorms for writing's sake.  The work here encompasses a  five-year archive from my independent work,  writing online for "Blogstracted" and several other websites, and a few other projects along the way.

I thank you for any moment of time you spend reading my writing.

This is the "bloggy" part. Includes archived entries from Blogstracted, my previous website.

REQUISITIONED WORK
Two online companies asked for my work thanks to what I had written at my previous website. This work includes a review for Little Miss Sunshine that won a modest award. I was also asked to write a review for DVD release from Anchor Bay Entertainment.

ACADEMIA WITH A TWIST
A history of my hometown and its place in nuclear history. This was an intricate assignment for a graduate criticsm class, so there are plenty of outside links to help illustrate the people and their stories surrounding the development and execution of the first atomic bombs. It's a longer piece, but there are meaningful stories coming from this place that changed the history of the world. I was allowed to play with the format because my instructor was very nice.

WRITING FOR OTHER WEBSITES
An insider's perspective of the production process behind Hey! Dancin'! at the Factory Theater.

Important information about the Factory Theater and its ways.

A history of the sound of comics

FICTION
A short story contest from the Chicago Tribune that I should have won with this entry.
